On the evening of June 1, after holding a public hearing, the Bellevue School Board approved the closure of Robinswood Middle and High School by a 4-1 vote. The main reason given for this approval was the likelihood that the school would not receive accreditation during the coming school year, which could have negative consequences for students. Board members told the Superintendent they would like monthly status reports on each of the Robinswood students, who will be enrolled in their home schools, Bellevue College or a career training program next year. They also requested regular progress reports on the work being done to design a new alternative school, which, ideally, would open in the 2011-12 school year.
