                                SCHOLARSHIPS - 2011-2012

The Bellevue Council PTSA offers scholarships each year to outstanding students in the Bellevue School District.  The Dr. Michael Riley and Alice Hurd Memorial scholarships are $1,000 scholarships awarded to one graduating senior from each of the five Bellevue high schools: Bellevue, Interlake, International, Newport and Sammamish.  The Bellevue Parks scholarship, also $1,000, will be awarded to one graduating senior from a Bellevue School District high school

The Dr. Michael Riley Memorial Scholarship is sponsored by local PTAs, and is awarded to one student from each of the high schools. It is named in honor of Bellevue’s former superintendent.   The Dr. Riley Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from a Bellevue high school who demonstrates exceptional accomplishment in academics, leadership, and activities.  Click Here for a copy of the Scholarship Application

The Alice Hurd Memorial Scholarship is funded by a trust established by the Hurd Family to honor their wife and mother, Alice Hurd. She was a tireless and enthusiastic volunteer in PTA and an outstanding child advocate. In recognition of her volunteer spirit, the Alice Hurd Scholarship is awarded to a graduating senior from a Bellevue high school who has gone above and beyond in service to the community and contributed more than 500 hours of outstanding community service.

A single application is common for both the Alice Hurd and Dr. Riley scholarships.  Applicants must file a separate application for each, if they would like to be considered for both scholarships.

The Bellevue Parks Scholarship is funded through a donation from the Bellevue Parks Yes! levy campaign, for one Bellevue graduate demonstrating a passion for the outdoors, and an awareness of the value the Bellevue parks system brings to the quality of life in the city.  The Parks Scholarship is awarded to a student who show outstanding accomplishment in environmental studies, science, or leadership in the field of parks and recreation.  It has a separate application.

A student may apply for one, two, or all three scholarships.  Be sure to note the unique requirements of each, including the recommendations required.
